Two people meet, the attraction is so intense that they cannot keep away from each other and they have an affair, they cheat. \u00a0Okay, flash to reality and anyone that&#8217;s been involved in an<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facetofacetherapy.com\/blog\/category\/infidelity\/\"> affair <\/a>knows that isn&#8217;t really how it happens.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a more likely story that you might relate to.<!--more-->So, you&#8217;re happily married for 10 years, you have children, both of you work and your life has been okay, mostly ups and not many downs. \u00a0Well, one day, your life seems boring, your relationship seems boring and you seem boring. \u00a0The same conversations that you&#8217;ve had for 10 years just don&#8217;t mean anything anymore. \u00a0One day, you just stop sharing about your day. \u00a0And then, one day you meet someone new and start sharing your day with them.<\/p>\n<p>Guess what? \u00a0This is new and it&#8217;s exciting because someone new is listening and you get to share old stories with a new person. \u00a0You stop sharing at home and it barely gets noticed. So you start heading to lunch with this new person, then you meet for drinks then it turns into something more.<\/p>\n<p>In all reality, most people that cheat don&#8217;t set out to cheat, they&#8217;re looking for a new connection, an interested person to listen to them and they get carried away. \u00a0If your relationship is solid you think this can&#8217;t happen to you, if you&#8217;re comfortable with your life, this couldn&#8217;t happen to you. But this is <strong>exactly<\/strong> what happens to you. \u00a0Infidelity has entered the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>You and your partner need to find new ways to connect, to work on old connections and to build on them. \u00a0Go for different dates, make time for each other, notice when your partner is not talking to you, make an effort to get dressed for each other, say nice things to each other and yes, work on your relationship bit by bit, everyday, to keep the connection alive.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel your partner is cheating, if you have that feeling in your gut, then <a href=\"\/therapy-services\/infidelity-therapy\/\">talk about it and work things out<\/a>.
